I am very glad to learn that Rajkot Ramakrishna Ashrama is bringing out a commemorative Souvenir on the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Gujarat.
Before going to USA to participate in the World’s Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893, Swami Vivekananda wandered throughout our motherland. This period of his parivrajaka days played an important part in transforming his personality and preparing him for the task of regenerating our Nation and the World. A considerable part of this period was spent by Swamiji in Gujarat, during which he came in contact with many important Princes, Dewans, Writers, Social Reformers etc. All of them were influenced by his majestic personality.
The Rajkot Ashrama has been celebrating the visit of Swamiji to Gujarat by organising public meetings in the places sanctified by his stay. The commemorative Souvenir being published during the concluding part of this celebration will contain articles by eminent writers on Gujarat’s glorious culture & holy pilgrim centres, the impact of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda movement on the people of the State, the places sanctified by the stay of Swami Vivekananda and his wanderings in Gujarat etc.
On this momentous occasion, I earnestly imvoke the blessings of the Holy Trio on all the monastic brothers, devotees of the Sevashrama and for the success of the Celebrations.
